Living the Life of an Hermana

Latest email excerpts from Hermana Alldredge! With pictures! Yay :)

Phew! We seriously have almost every minute planned out of every single day! It's GO GO GO! I am sooo happy my companion is super good at being to places on time! But ya, it's really like the Hunger Games in a way ha ha in that I am in the "Training Center".

My finger is fine now! It still feels weird when i put my hand in a fist, but it's probably 'cause it had to just fix itself lol i didn't see a doctor, i just let it do what it does because i didn't really have/want to make time to go see him lol for a few days it was swollen, but then it went down and had a little bruise on it, but it's all good now :) I just thought it was pretty funny that i hurt my finger on my second day here :P

For our sacrament meetings, people are randomly selected the morning of.. welll... the second of, more like... to give a talk  in their language. Which is kinda scary, but good i guess. After sacrament, the elders go to their class and the hermannas go to "music and the spoken word" in a chapel that we have here on campus. Church starts at 8am every week. That night, we go to a long devotional which is always way good! Tuesdays and Sundays are 'devo days'. This Tuesday we were able to hear from Elder Christofferson. It was way cool! The devotionals help me so much 'cause sometimes... it gets a little hard and discouraging, but the devos help me to keep going 'cause you always feel so good after them... like you can conquer the world! lol. There is totally a special spirit here, but i don't really notice it untill we go off campus to get a Jamba Juice on our pdays. It's just a different feeling. Kinda like being on the Temple grounds all day :) It's so peaceful!

Oh, ya, surprise with Luz (our 'investigator' from last week)... she sent our class a video message saying she couldn't take anymore lessons from us 'cause she was going to Argentina again, so we were all sad. We also were suppose to be getting a new teacher this week... and we found out the next day when Luz was our new teacher (wha...?!) that she was actually a member the whole time! lol And then we were told that we were going to get a new investigator and our other teacher, mr. Vargas, popped up on the television ha ha but ya. I LOVE my teachers!!! They are so patient and so good at teaching, it's amazing. They are also just plain cool teachers too. I'm going to teach our "new investigator" next week.
My whole district is going to Argentina Buenos Aires Sur mission, so we are all going down together, which is cool! We have 3 companionship in our room, and one bathroom. Which makes it hard to shower and stuff... but we make do. I just get ready in the kitchen, and another one of the girls actually washes her hair in the sink ha ha. It's kinda nuts.

There is a program called 'Dear Elder', and its a really easy way to write to me! Spread the word! I like hearing about even just day to day stuff... If anyone wants to do that :) it's free to do. (www.dearelder.com)
Love you! - Hermana Alldredge

Life in the MTC

I received my first email from Hermana Alldredge today! I was so happy to hear from her. I think 3 days is probably the longest I have gone without at least texting her. So I was pretty happy and surprised to hear from her! Here are a few excerpts from the email that she wrote:

"thanks so much for putting a blog up for me, i really do appreciate it!!! MTC life is great! it has it's ups and downs of course but it's an overall good experience! My companion sister Ronolfson is way nice and super smart when it comes to spanish so it's nice to have her around to help me!
I feel like I haven't seen you guys in months because the days here feel sooooo long! I was talking to the other elders and sisters and they totally agree. It's crazy how much stuff we fit into one day here! My spanish is coming along quite nicely, if I do say so myself btw :) i'm still not super good at it, but some of the stuff that i've learned in the past is coming back and I can understand what i'm doing ha ha.
In our class yesterday morning, my companion and i actually taught a 20 minute lesson in spanish to an investigator named Luz, who only spoke spanish. I was super nervous that I was going to mess something up when teaching her, but it was crazy how easily we were able to do it! It turned out to be a great lesson about the Holy Ghost. Oh, and on the first day I was here... or at least i think it was the first day... we had a cool workshop where my zone went and taught real investigators (in English) about the gospel and answered questions they had about it.
I sprained my left ring finger playing volleyball. lol! I didn't think i hurt it that bad... but after we were done playing, i realized that it was super-duper swollen! i haven't had time to fix it or have someone look at it yet, so for right now i'm just dealing with it ... ya.. One Elder i was talking to from Georgia told me that after a few days it should be fine lol it only hurts a little, but it's pretty swollen :P
i'm loving it here, even though it's been kinda hard and really different... but it's something i just have to get use to. Love you all!"

So there you have it! Her 'Preparation Day' (Pday) is on Saturday right now, so that is when we will be getting updates. So, check back on the weekends or the beginning of each week to see if we have a new post up from her! You can also subscribe to 'follow' this blog if you scroll down and look at the left hand column. There is a place to enter your email, and as we post new updates, you will be emailed!
Thanks for your support, we would love to hear any comments and pass them along to Hermana Alldredge!

Reporting to the Missionary Training Center (Provo, UT MTC)

Hermana Alldredge has officially reported to the MTC at 12:30pm today! We are so happy for her. In my last phone call right as they were heading over to the MTC, she sounded so happy and excited! Hermana Alldredge is off to a GREAT start!

She was taken by our Dad (Troy), Mom (Carmen), and sister (Brooke). These are some pictures taken at the Provo temple shortly before taking the plunge into the MTC.
¡Buena suerte Hermana Alldredge! We are all praying for you and waiting to hear some fun things!
